Diabetes Awareness Month

February 1, 2019 By Ligia

February is the month my daughter was diagnosed with diabetes at age 7. This month I will be posting a couple of diabetes related posts, mostly to help those who have family members with diabetes, but also to educate anyone who wants to know!

First up is a very, very important video regarding glucagon. Glucagon is an emergency rescue drug if a diabetic’s sugar drops too low. At this point, the person is probably unconscious. My daughter had a seizure and needed this drug.

We have 3-4 of these on hand at all times. They do expire, so parents beware! I just ordered two and plan to order two more each month until I have all new ones. You can use the expired ones to practice.

I do love the rhyme she says ” Wet to dry and in the thigh”.
