Free: The Absolute Quickest Way to Help Your Child Change

June 4, 2014 By Ligia

I got an email from the author Dr. Fred Ray Lybrand, regarding his book. It is free for a short period of time. I haven’t read it, but I plan to. I am passing along the email information and a link.

Here is Dr. Fred’s Email:
Greetings from the rapidly warming southland of San Antonio, Texas. Whether or not the Spurs beat the Heat…kids and grandkids will keep coming home!
We’ve had some strange experiences because older-and-wiser folks taught us a few things about children. We never saw a tantrum. All of our children slept through the night from 6 weeks old and onward, and people would stop buy our table at restaurants and complement how the 5 children we had behaved so well. Honestly, it is simple…(1) God has been kind to us, and (2) We sort of knew what we were doing. Even to this day all of our kids are moral, spiritual, and responsible. I didn’t say they are perfect, but I will say they are awesome.
So, I need your help.
Around 15 years ago I wrote a book on how we approached encouraging the behaviors we wanted to see in our 5 children. The book did well and helped a lot of people, but as things go it went out of print. You can still find copies available online, but we’ve done one even better. We had it converted into an eBook and placed on Amazon Kindle. I’m also in a program that allows me to give away copies of it for free (for a 5 day period). The essence of the book has borne out over time and is useful for employers as well.
The book’s basic idea is focused on learning how to ask and answer 4 ‘magic’ questions concerning behavior:
1. What do I see?
2. What do I want to see?
3. How am I encouraging what I see?
4. How can I encourage what I see and discourage everything else?
We will show you the power of learning how to answer these questions…and…we will show you how your marriage is more powerful than your parenting.
You can get The Absolute Quickest Way to Help Your Child Change for free through Saturday. There are no tricks; we are just trying to promote healthy families.

We Hope….We Wait

April 8, 2014 By Ligia

“But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it” Romans 8:25

“Rome wasn’t built in a day”.

“Good things take time and great things take even longer”

we hope…..we wait

I read a devotional today by Chuck Swindoll in this book The Finishing Touch. This devotional reading really made me think about homeschooling. We hope…we wait…

I am anxious about what the end product will be, the unseen if you will. As I am getting ready to “plan out” our high school years I am overwhelmed with the unknown of how it will turn out. I can go by the advice of hundreds who have gone before me who say “It will be fine”. But deep, deep inside I still have that fear of failing.

But today’s verse really reminded me that we are not only to hope…and wait we also persevere. And, not to mention, that we are hoping and waiting on God. He will get me through this; he will help me persevere through my “unseens”. He has always been there for me. I have been able to look back and see how he has carried me through. Now, I am facing new “unseens”:

High school- oh that’s a big one. I am taking on what some institutions are not able to get right.

Dyslexia- Almost just as big, if not bigger because I will eventually have to deal with dyslexia AND homeschooling.

Those are my two biggies right now. Not to mention diabetes, celiac disease and a host of other things that I can’t control or see what lies ahead for my children.

But I love that verse. “We hope…we wait”

The second part of this devotion reminded me that I am building ROME. I am taking on a huge task and I have to remind myself that it was not built in a day. I may not see “progress” or even “growth” in a day, a week, a month…but I am building ROME. For my son, I started in 1st grade. For my daughter, I started in 4th grade. I am still building!

And like Rome, I am still being built! I am still a work in progress. I need to continue to grow and build so I can become my spiritual ROME.

And then finally, good things take time and great things take even longer.

My children are great things…I am not going to short change them. I am going to pour everything I have into them. I am going to speak God’s work to them, over them, in them, all over them. I know that I can’t decide their fate, but I am going to pour into them all I’ve got so that God use that sacrifice and make beautiful things out of them. Like Rome.

Bible Reading Plans

February 28, 2014 By Ligia

I am currently writing my high school Freshman Bible Course of Study  for my daughter which includes reading The Bible the Entire Year.  I found this great website that has many different Bible Reading Plans. I thought it was worth sharing.

This is the one I chose. I am not expecting her to read the entire Bible in a Year. I am dividing the Bible into 3 years.

A Bible Reading Chart Read through the Bible at your own pace. Use this minimalistic, yet beautifully designed, chart to track your reading over 2014.

There is the link to the rest of the plans. My disclaimer: I am not promoting  the actual website (I didn’t get to look through the whole website to say yes I agree with all that is said). However, I am promoting these neat Bible Plans!
