My Theme for 2016: All Things Are Possible

January 12, 2016 By Ligia

Last year, God gave me a theme for the year. “You will make me Brave” by Bethel Music was my theme song. I really felt God was calling me to bravery for somethings I didn’t think I was able to do. He was faithful. I got certified as a Barton Dyslexia Screener in July which I was very apprehensive about. I had some difficult talks with people I felt I needed to have. I know God gave me the strength to do that.

This year, I feel God has given me a new theme “All Things are possible because nothing is impossible with God”. There are some areas of my life that I feel are impossible. The problem is when something seems impossible I can turn into hopelessness. I do not want that! So I chose to believe that God will do the impossible. I BELIEVE!

” Everything is possible for him who believes” Mark 9:23b

Here is a mug I found and had to have:

My Personal Reading List for 2016

January 12, 2016 By Ligia

I have always admired many people that seem to always have a book going and have time to read. I am a little jealous because I love to read too! But finally, I think I have this reading thing down! I’ve actually gotten through a few books this last few months!

Here is what I am doing: I am reading 10 minutes every morning after my quiet time. These 10 minutes have proven to be invaluable. When I don’t get to it, I don’t beat myself up, I just pick up where I left off.

Here the books I have read so far:

and now I’m reading the other book:
I have also read this title:

The Thyroid Diet Revolution: Manage Your Master Gland of Metabolism for Lasting Weight Loss

Here is my personal reading list for the 2016:

6 Secrets to a Lasting Love: Recapturing Your Dream Marriage

Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak

Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life

Who You Are When No One’s Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise

Love One Another: How to Let God’s Heart Shine Through Your Life

I hope I can get through these titles. These books have been sitting on my bookshelf for way too long.

Here are some titles to add to my list:

Character Makeover: 40 Days with a Life Coach to Create the Best You

Made to Crave: Satisfying Your Deepest Desire with God, Not Food

The Total Money Makeover

For Fun I am going to read a book a friend of mine wrote:
A Distant Melody

Tea Time for the Traditionally Built (No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency Series)

and then for “work” which is a Dyslexia Screener & Tutor, I will be reading these two:
Overcoming Dyslexia: A New and Complete Science-Based Program for Reading Problems at Any Level

Essentials of Dyslexia Assessment and Intervention

I am also hoping to read a book together with my daughter. We read the Giver book and the companion books a few years ago. So, I think we are going to tackle a few together. More on that later.

My goal is to read at least 12 books this year. I am hoping my strategy works.

Financial Blueprint for 2016: A Financial Renovation

January 8, 2016 By Ligia

Yesterday I watched the third video in I Am that Lady’s Financial Renovation Mini course, the Financial Blueprint. I really liked this segment because I lined up things in a list, which I like. Some of the things on the list are things I’m already doing, but luckily there are always ways to improve.

So this is my list from my Financial Blueprint of new things I will work on in 2016:

  • Being on the same page with my spouse by having a meeting on the last Saturday or Sunday of the month.
  • Sell stuff-I have a lot of stuff to sell from homeschooling curriculum to extra bikes. I also had been thinking about buying and selling things on Facebook, Craigslist, etc. I used to do this a long time ago, and stopped because it was time consuming, but if I do it to beef up our Emergency Fund there will be purpose not “just for fun”
  • Think about my future. This is something I have never really done. So I think its important to start writing things down! We are not getting younger!

Then here are the things to improve on:

  • cutting coupons-being more proactive about cutting and using them
  • meal planning- getting motivated on a weekly basis.
  • monthly bill reduction-always looking on how to lower our bills.

I just got an email that these videos are only available til Monday (January 11th). I was hoping to re-watch them now and then. Bummer.
