My Theme for 2016: All Things Are Possible

January 12, 2016 By Ligia

Last year, God gave me a theme for the year. “You will make me Brave” by Bethel Music was my theme song. I really felt God was calling me to bravery for somethings I didn’t think I was able to do. He was faithful. I got certified as a Barton Dyslexia Screener in July which I was very apprehensive about. I had some difficult talks with people I felt I needed to have. I know God gave me the strength to do that.

This year, I feel God has given me a new theme “All Things are possible because nothing is impossible with God”. There are some areas of my life that I feel are impossible. The problem is when something seems impossible I can turn into hopelessness. I do not want that! So I chose to believe that God will do the impossible. I BELIEVE!

” Everything is possible for him who believes” Mark 9:23b

Here is a mug I found and had to have:

My Personal Reading List for 2016

January 12, 2016 By Ligia

I have always admired many people that seem to always have a book going and have time to read. I am a little jealous because I love to read too! But finally, I thinkĀ I have this reading thing down! I’ve actually gotten through a few books this last few months!

Here is what I am doing: I am reading 10 minutes every morning after my quiet time. These 10 minutes have proven to be invaluable. When I don’t get to it, I don’t beat myself up, I just pick up where I left off.

Here the books I have read so far:

and now I’m reading the other book:
I have also read this title:

The Thyroid Diet Revolution: Manage Your Master Gland of Metabolism for Lasting Weight Loss

Here is my personal reading list for the 2016:

6 Secrets to a Lasting Love: Recapturing Your Dream Marriage

Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak

Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life

Who You Are When No One’s Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise

Love One Another: How to Let God’s Heart Shine Through Your Life

I hope I can get through these titles. These books have been sitting on my bookshelf for way too long.

Here are some titles to add to my list:

Character Makeover: 40 Days with a Life Coach to Create the Best You

Made to Crave: Satisfying Your Deepest Desire with God, Not Food

The Total Money Makeover

For Fun I am going to read a book a friend of mine wrote:
A Distant Melody

Tea Time for the Traditionally Built (No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency Series)

and then for “work” which is a Dyslexia Screener & Tutor, I will be reading these two:
Overcoming Dyslexia: A New and Complete Science-Based Program for Reading Problems at Any Level

Essentials of Dyslexia Assessment and Intervention

I am also hoping to read a book together with my daughter. We read the Giver book and the companion books a few years ago. So, I think we are going to tackle a few together. More on that later.

My goal is to read at least 12 books this year. I am hoping my strategy works.

Operation Christmas Child 2014

September 19, 2014 By Ligia

OCC Web Banners
This will be my 17th year packing shoeboxes!

I have been buying things here and there all year long. Lots of toys from the Target Spot and some clearance items from Walgreens. I am hoping to fill 8 boxes.

Last year I decided that for every pair of shoes I purchased I would save the box and that is how many boxes I would donate. Well, I had 8 boxes (not all mine LOL) of shoes from this past year.

So, I purchased the storage boxes at Michael’s (they are 7 for $10) and now I am just stockpiling.

Here are my post from years past:

Christmas Service Opportunity 2012

Operation Christmas Child: Shopping Day

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Time 2013

I hope you can join us this year! We still have a shopping day for lots of other important items like toothbrushes, toothpaste etc.

Here is the link to the website: Operation Christmas Child.
