7 Day Challenge Day #5: Declutter Your House

January 16, 2014 By Ligia

Day five of my Seven Day Challenge to “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode” is to declutter. Lucky for me I’ve been a Flylady for a while. Please visit Flylady.net if you do not know what the term Flylady means. Part of being a Flylady is to declutter. Not that I no longer have clutter at all.  I know that I need to get certain rooms in my house decluttered. My main room to declutter in our classroom. I have piles everywhere. I get overwhelmed some days. I have to spend some time this week decluttering. So here are the main things I need to do:

  • Put all the curriculum that we will not be using on the curriculum selling sites and get rid of it
  • Use the beautiful shelve in the classroom!
  • Get rid of the exercise equipment
  • Get rid of stuff that just doesn’t belong

This might take me a while….

Simplify & Plan 2014: Reduce Toy Clutter

January 6, 2014 By Ligia

This task is #7 on the List of Tasks to Simplify My Life. This is probably the most dreaded by moms, but for me now the easiest. My children are now 10 and 13. My teenager doesn’t have “toys” anymore and my son’s Legos are now in bins or contained in his room. I don’t make him pick up his Legos in his room except to vacuum (once a month!). So the rest of his toys are in bins  in the bonus room. So today I just tidied up around the bins, stacked them up nicely, and done.

The last task on the Seven Tasks is Freezer Cooking which I already do. So as of today, I am done with the Seven Tasks.

Homeschool Curriculum for Sale

December 6, 2013 By Ligia

I always try to recycle my curriculum by selling it. There are different ways I have found to do this.

  1. Ebay- I have sold (and bought) many curriculum items on Ebay. All my Teaching Textbooks have been purchased on there. Shipping is tricky, sometimes its easier to just say Free Shipping and hope for the best! You’ll attract more buyers with free shipping.
  2. Facebook- Several homeschool swaps have emerged on Facebook. I belong to a local swap and that is a good way to go.
  3. Used Curriculum sale sites like these:

and now this one:

hsThis last one is a new site that I just found. I will be posting my curriculum here as well come spring. The tricky part is remembering where you’ve listed things and not to double sell them! I keep a notebook with each item as I list it and I also put a sticky note on the book telling me where I’ve listed them so I can go to each site and remove them when I’ve sold it.
