Selling My Stuff: Clothing

September 22, 2014 By Ligia

This is my first post of a series called “Selling My Stuff”

I am contemplating using Thredup.com or Tradesy.com to sell some nice, new or almost new clothing on-line. I have always sold my clothing on Facebook Swap groups, ebay, and garage sales, but these are nice designer brands. I don’t feel like I will get the value that I want using those resources. I found an article in Family Circle Magazine that featured these two companies as options. Here is the toss up:

Thredup.com:

You May receive up to 40% of your chosen items’ resale value up front.

You get instant store credit or Paypal payment (love that).

They send you a Clean OUT Bag to fill up and it ships to for free back to them.

They list it all, I just wait for my money.

If your items are not accepted they are donated. (This is the part I don’t like) You can pay $12.99 for them to return what they don’t want.

Tradesy.com

On this site  you list your clothing and accessories. Similar to ebay, you need to take your own pictures and post them.

According to the Family Circle article,  you can make the greatest profit possible from your gently used clothing. Tradesy takes only a 9% commission.

When an item sells they send you a shipping kit for free with shipping materials and postage! (that is awesome)

Returns are sent to Tradesy instead of seller.

They also pay through paypal.com.

So here is what I am thinking:

I am going to try both! I am going to keep half the items here and list on Tradesy and send the other half to Thredup and see which one benefits me the most!

So wish me luck! I am trying to fund my Christmas Shopping!

Operation Christmas Child 2014

OCC Web Banners
This will be my 17th year packing shoeboxes!

I have been buying things here and there all year long. Lots of toys from the Target Spot and some clearance items from Walgreens. I am hoping to fill 8 boxes.

Last year I decided that for every pair of shoes I purchased I would save the box and that is how many boxes I would donate. Well, I had 8 boxes (not all mine LOL) of shoes from this past year.

So, I purchased the storage boxes at Michael’s (they are 7 for $10) and now I am just stockpiling.

Here are my post from years past:

I hope you can join us this year! We still have a shopping day for lots of other important items like toothbrushes, toothpaste etc.

Freezer Cooking: Ground Beef Starters

September 17, 2014 By Ligia

Freezer Cooking. I love it.
I’ve done different forms over the years including the full-on 30 meals in one session. I’ve visited the chains, like Dream Dinners. Now adays, with limited freezer space and limited time, I’ve been doing Mini Freezer Cooking Days. I’ve posted a few in the past here are the links:
Marinades
Ground Beef
Recently I decided on a different approach, which are mini freezer cooking days based on types of meat. Recently I received a Safeway Just for You coupon for $3.49 a pound ground beef. I don’t know what everyone else in the country is paying, but this is actually great! I purchased about 5 pounds and I also used 1 pound of ground pork.

So I just did a Ground Beef Mini Freezer cooking day. Here is what I made:

IMG_3222

1. Saved 1 pound for meat loaf (two weeks from now). I wrapped it in a Ziploc gallon bag and froze it.

2. Used 2 pounds for Taco meat (which I used for dinner that night, froze 2 containers and kept one for Tuesday Night)

3. Browned 1 pound ground beef with onions for use in other meals and divided into 2 containers

4. Browned ½ pound of ground sausage and 1 pound of ground beef with onions to use in other recipes. I divided this into 3 Ziploc bags.

In total I get 10 “dinner starters” for 2 hours of work.

So what kinds of things can I make?

With the taco meat I can make tacos, taquitos, and an enchilada pie.

With the browned meat I can use when a recipe calls for browned ground beef like chili or spaghetti.

With the mixed pork and beef I can use to make spaghetti sauce and other recipes that call for a ground beef.

Betty crocker inspired me to do this so here is the link to these recipes:

Easy Dinner Starters
I am sharing this recipe on Gluten Free Wednesdays.
