Planners for the Next School Year: A New Find!

June 2, 2015 By Ligia

Now that 2014-2015 is officially over, it is time to get focused on my next school year. I have laid out my calendar, set my goals, and now I am zoning in on curriculum to help me achieve my goals for 2015-16. Actually, I should say help my children achieve their goals for 2015-16.

First, I want to share about this new planner I am trying out. It’s from A Plan in Place.

Yes, I get a little discount if you order. But let me tell you I am excited about this upcoming school year’s planners.

I got a planner for myself, my daughter and son. So a Teacher’s Edition, a high school edition, and student planner (not younger version).

Here is the neat part of this planner:

Customization: (above) is my daughter’s planner with her courses for next year.

But wait there is more!

He has a checklist for this daily activities.

And she has a checklist and then some!

I have organization and or accountability-type goals for each of them for 2015-16, so I am really hoping that this planner breeds independence, organization, and accountability.

So excited.

Book Review: Say Good-bye to Survival Mode

May 25, 2015 By Ligia

A few weeks ago this book Say Goodbye to Survival Modewas for 99 cents on Amazon so I bought it on my Kindle. I have followed Crystal Paine’s website Money Saving Mom for a while now, in fact she is one of my picks for Money Saving Roll. I wanted to buy her book when it first came out but I didn’t. I wish I had. I read it in 2 days. I personally do not like reading on the Kindle. I missed being able to highlight, mark up, and dog ear pages. It was quite distressing not being able to go back to a “certain spot”. Regardless, I read the book cover to cover and spent some great deal of time thinking about the areas of my life that are “out of control” In the introduction she asks are you “Frazzled, Tired, and Behind?” Uh, yeah, I am a Busy Mom. In her book she gives 9 simple strategies to stress less, sleep more, and restore your passion for life. So I took these to heart, and I ‘ve been working on most of these ever since.

Because of this book, I have embarked on a journey to declutter my day, my schedule, my life, and my house. I am working on setting goals, setting up a manageable cleaning schedule, getting back in shape. I am setting small manageable goals for the areas of my life that matter most: Personal, Homemaking, Family, Business, and Finances.

Because of this book, I realized that I am trying to tackle way to much. Even in this blog I found that I was trying to “blog” about way to many things. I am going to focus on the things that really impact my daily life the most: My children (which includes homeschooling) our various medical conditions (Celiac disease, Diabetes, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADD, and now to add to the fun Lactose Intolerance) and my home life (homemaking etc). I am passionate about all these things and am constantly learning more and more about how to better serve my God by taking care of my family and my self.

So I am excited. And thankful.

I hope you have time to read this book.
