Homeschool Classifieds

September 20, 2012 By Ligia

Here is another way to make money: Sell your used or new homeschool curriculum. It’s pretty much free to use. There are some levels of membership that do cost some money but not much.

Also if you trying to save money, you can buy gently used or new curriculum. I have bought many items on this website and have always been happy.

If you are not a homeschooler, you might be able to sell parenting books, children’s books, or novels. I have purchased books on CD and a couple of novels we needed for our schooling.

Here are something to keep in mind about the classifieds:

  • These are all individual moms or dads selling their stuff
  • You have to make arrangements for shipping and payment
  • Although a seller can request paypal, not all people have paypal
  • At the end of the day, its your call whether you want to sell or buy from the person

Mourning My Coupon Binder

September 20, 2012 By Ligia

I am mourning the loss of my beloved coupon binder and tote. I just realized yesterday that it is no where to be found. The last time I remember having it was at Safeway. I called the store and it is not in their lost and found. I have been using a binder for the past 4-5 years. I had finally got it just the way I liked it. My tote was a beautiful Land’s End canvas tote. I also had my meal planner and my Grocery Guide from Triumph Dining. So, so sad.

Now I will have to start from scratch. Having lost my binder I am now rethinking how I do couponing. I know different people do different things. Not everyone uses the binder method and so I am going to be researching what other people do. I keeping thinking that if I had not been carrying it around it would not be gone!

If you have a method you like I would love to hear it.

Diabetes Emergency Preparedness Kit

September 19, 2012 By Ligia

It’s been on my to-do list way too long. I want to make a Diabetes Emergency Preparedness Kit for KD. If we ever have an emergency I would regret not putting this important kit together. I went out and bought this tool box at Home Depot for less than $8.00.

It’s the perfect size for this project. I am just starting this so I am going to add things as I think of them, but here is my inital list of items that will need to go.

  • Syringes
  • Test strips
  • lancets
  • Glucose tablets
  • Glucagon
  • juice boxes
  • Cake gel
  • crackers
  • peanut butter crackers
  • Infusion sets for her pump/site
  • 3 sets of site change supplies
  • Folder with her diabetes plan

As for insulin, I know insulin cannot be kept in a hot place so the garage is out and so is any shed outside. Our doctor suggested keeping vials in different locations like: grandma’s  house, a friend’s house, a neighbor, and maybe even church. I also heard of burying the insulin, but we’ll see.

I haven’t gotten all my supplies together but I am hoping to have this done before September is over. I’ll share my final project result as soon as it is ready. Then I can start on our family emergency kit and exit plan.

Hopefully, if you have a diabetic in your family you will join me.
